ArcelorMittal Ostrava Employees Support Humanitarian Collection

ArcelorMittal Ostrava's employees participated in "Needless things to needy people," a humanitarian collection of clothes and other things that recently took place in Ostrava. The event was organized by Charity Ostrava in cooperation with Diacony Broumov.

Almost 1.5 tonnes of clothes, toys, and household goods were collected, loaded on a truck by the members of the ArcelorMittal Ostrava fire department, and delivered to Charity Ostrava.

"One week before the collection took place we had informed the employees on the possibility to take part and to bring their own contribution to a given place in the company's premises. We very appreciate the solidarity of our employees, who didn't let the weather discourage them and brought a huge quantity of aid to needy people," said Nina Feniková from the Corporate Responsibility and Social Services Department.

Diacony Broumov, which is the recipient of the collection, is a provider of social services to homeless people and creates job opportunities for them. "The clothes and other things collected are sorted by users of our services. Usable things will further serve them. Damaged material will be processed. Approximately 10% of our collections create waste," said Lenka Wienerová, the District Manager of Diacony Broumov, on use of the humanitarian collection.
