ArcelorMittal Ostrava Elects New Chairman of the Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board of ArcelorMittal Ostrava appointed Augustine Kochuparampil, vice-chairman of the ArcelorMittal group and the CEO of Long Carbon Europe, a new member of the Supervisory Board and at the same time elected him chairman of the Supervisory Board. Kochuparampil has replaced Arnaud Poupart-Lafarg, who resigned from his function.
Augustine Kochuparampil worked with the Ostrava based mill from 2004 to 2008 as a member of the Board of Directors when he was assisting in integration of the company to the former Mittal Steel after the privatization. From 2009 to 2011 he was the CEO of ArcelorMittal Ostrava. Under his leadership the company in 2011 implemented the largest environmental investment project of a private company in the Czech Republic since 2000 when the company invested 1 billion crowns into dedusting of its sinter plant.
Augustine Kochuparampil was born on 8 July 1952. He joined the group in 1995 as a controller at Mittal Steel Hamburg before being promoted to chief financial officer (CFO) two years later. From 2001 to 2003 in his capacity as CFO of Ispat Europe he oversaw the restructuring and consolidation of the European units of this group. In 2003 he became the CFO of Mittal Steel Poland and he played a key role in restructuring of the Polish mills. In January 2007 he was appointment CEO of ArcelorMittal Galati (Romania).
Kochuparampil holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and a Bachelor’s degree in Labour Law from Ravishankar University Raipur (India). Since 2009 he has lived in Ostrava.
