ArcelorMittal May Make Power, Not Steel, at New Site
02/27/2017 - ArcelorMittal is thinking about scrapping plans for a 6 million metric ton steel plant and building a 600 MW solar farm, reports The (India) Economic Times.
According to The Times, the steelmaker is rethinking the proposed US$6.5 billion investment in the Indian state of Karnataka due to the world’s excess steelmaking capacity and uncertainty over the local availability of iron ore. So instead, it is looking at building a solar farm on the land where the mill would have stood.
