ArcelorMittal Makes Donation for Victims of Myanmar Cyclone

ArcelorMittal is donating 100,000 euro to the Save the Children NGO to help the victims of the Myanmar disaster.

The United Nations estimates that only 500,000 of the 2.4 million people in the worst-affected areas have received some form of aid. Nearly half of the survivors are children, which leaves 900,000 in desperate need of help. Save The Children, which has already reached over 160,000 people, has been recognized by the UN as the number-one responding agency in this emergency.

"On behalf of ArcelorMittal, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to all the people affected by this disaster,” commented Lakshmi Mittal, ArcelorMittal’s Chairman and CEO. “As a responsible corporate citizen, ArcelorMittal is committed to contribute to the urgent relief efforts underway in Myanmar.”

The donation to Save the Children is being made by the ArcelorMittal Foundation.
