ArcelorMittal JV Upgrades Automated Coil Transport System
08/16/2017 - ArcelorMittal is investing US$5 million to replace unmanned carts that move coils at its I/N Tek and I/N Kote joint-venture plants in Indiana, reports The Times newspaper of northwest Indiana.
“The original (automatic guided vehicles) were 25 years old. They were becoming the Achilles' heel of the operation, causing numerous shutdowns and interruptions,” Mike Utterback, division manager, cold rolling and annealing, told the newspaper.
“Replacing them was extremely important to the division.”
