ArcelorMittal Galati to Increase Presence in Romanian Wind Turbine Market

ArcelorMittal Galati intends to increase its presence in the Romanian wind turbine market by adapting its production for this industry’s requirements as well as improving the quality and delivery services for its worldwide customers. The company also expresses the importance that the support schemes implemented in Romania should be cost-efficient and must not impact the competitiveness of local manufacturers.
"We have adjusted our production processes and quality inspecting facilities to match the requirements of this industry. We have ultra-sonic testing laboratories as well as special quality surface and flaw detecting teams which enable us to adjust the parameters of our Plate Mills in order to obtain the requested dimensions," commented Bruno Ribo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Galati during the "Wind Power Romania" seminar.
ArcelorMittal Galati is currently supplying plates for wind turbines producers from Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, India and Turkey and intends to address the geographical proximity of the Romanian Aeolian Parks located in Moldavia, Dobrudja and the North and East of Muntenia areas. Its clients benefit from short delivery times for the quantities ordered, tailored logistics solutions and a strong proactive communication system for checking the order’s status. The steel grades produced by the Galati Unit are suitable for manufacturing the most important parts of a turbine: blades, nacelle, rotor hub, tower, foundation and construction works.
The company expresses the need to mitigate the differences with other countries regarding the level of subsidies and exemption granted as the resulting energy costs in other regions of the world are better and delaying this process might bring important job losses for Romania.
ArcelorMittal Galati — a major energy consumer in Romania — understands the importance of supporting the use of competitive renewable energy in order to mitigate climate change and to improve energy security.
The company believes that, going forward, the balancing and backup of the support schemes system must be better addressed.
