Anshan Isco Starts up VAI Slab Caster

Anshan Isco, P.R. China, recently started up its caster CCM1-New in fully-automatic mode. The project is part of Anshan’s plan to relocate the new steel plant No. 3 in two stages. The contract to build two twin-strand casters with a planned total capacity of approximately five million tonnes was awarded to VAI in 2003.

Anshan’s new caster includes VAI’s LevCon Mold level control, straight mold technology for highest product quality, VAI’s DynaWidth hydraulic mold width adjustment and DynaGap soft reduction technology for improved slab inner quality. The caster also incorporates VAI’s proprietary MoldExpert Breakout prevention and Hydraulic oscillator (DynaFlex), as well as VAI´s strand guide system with SMART® technology for DynaGap soft reduction.
VAI also supplied the Level 2 process computer system.

The proven technological control packages LevCon Mold level control, MoldExpert and Level 2 were applied from the first heat on.
