ANDRITZ to Build Cold Mill for ArcelorMittal France
09/07/2023 - ArcelorMittal France has placed an order with ANDRITZ for a reversible 6-high cold mill to produce light-gauge, non-oriented electrical steels, the equipment manufacturer has announced.
According to ANDRITZ, the mill, which will be installed at ArcelorMittal’s Mardyck plant in northern France, is being designed to roll strips up to 1,450 mm wide and in minimum thicknesses of 0.2 mm.
ANDRITZ will supply the mechanical and electrical equipment and supervise installation and start-up. The core equipment will be pre-assembled and tested at the ANDRITZ workshop in Hemer, Germany.
“The ANDRITZ 6-high provides high roll force, roll torque and bending forces at a relatively small work roll diameter. Along with the extensive process instrumentation and an exceptionally flexible cooling and strip-drying strategy, ArcelorMittal will receive the perfect solution to meet the challenging quality demands on the end product at a high production level,” the company said in a statement.
