ANDRITZ Receives Order for Two Reheat Furnaces
06/09/2017 - Austrian machine builder ANDRITZ has won an order for two walking beam furnaces from ArcelorMittal’s Burns Harbor steel works in the U.S.
According to an announcement from ANDRITZ, the top- and bottom-fired furnaces will replace the pusher furnaces at the facility’s 80-inch strip mill. Each furnace will have the capacity to heat 500 tons worth of carbon steel slabs per hour, ANDRITZ said.
The furnaces will feature low NOx burners that will reduce emissions.
“The furnaces will reduce overall fuel consumption as a result of their long, unfired pre-heat zones, individual burner control and improved insulation, including efficient ANDRITZ skid insulation,” the company said.
In addition to supplying the furnaces, ANDRITZ will oversee installation and commission and provide operator training. The furnaces are to be fired up in 2020.
