American Precoat Opens Automotive-Grade Electro-Galvanized Steel Plant in India
12/13/2021 - American Precoat Specialty Pvt. Ltd. has built a continuous electrogalvanized steel plant in Valsad, Gujarat, India, according to news outlet Zee News.
The plant produces automotive-grade electrogalvanized (EG) steel, the first such plant for the company in India, Zee News said. The country spends millions of dollars each year importing electrogalvanized steel to satisfy the demand of its domestic vehicle industry.
“American Precoat makes an absolute substitute of the imported steel and stands tall with its head held high as a landmark to refrain our nation’s exchequer to be loaded with millions of dollars, to import the EG still from outside the territory of our country,” Shubh Gautam, promoter and chief technical architect of American Precoat Specialty, said.
Gautam stressed the importance of making India's steel sector self-sufficient. “What we're doing is a mass example to promote the principle of ‘Make in India,’” he said.
