American Iron and Steel Institute Names New Chairman
05/05/2016 - Nucor Corp. chairman and chief executive John Ferriola has been named chairman of the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Ferriola was elected during the institute's 124th general meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“Working together under the AISI umbrella, we have made many positive strides this year -- particularly on the policy front. But there is much more to be done. I am honored that my colleagues on the board have instilled their trust and confidence in me, as we work together to speak with one voice on behalf of our industry," Ferriola said in a statement.
"I am proud to help lead policy and market-related activities at AISI, and proud to represent the steel industry -- and to harness the dynamic spirit of the men and women who work in it," said Ferriola.
His term expires in May 2017.
Also during the meeting, AK Steel Corp. chief executive Roger Newport and Tenaris Tamsa vice chairman Guillermo Vogel were elected as AISI board vice chairmen.
Additionally, Luis Landois Garza, vice president of sales and marketing for Altos Hornos de Mexico, and Maximo Vedoya, CEO of Ternium Mexico, were elected to the board.
