AM/NS India Selects ABB for Electrification of Advanced Cold Rolling Mill
06/28/2023 - ABB announced today it has been tapped to provide the electrification and automation systems for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s (AM/NS India) advanced steel cold rolling mill in Hazira, GJ, India.
According to ABB, the contract comes by way of John Cockerill India Ltd. (JCIL), the original equipment manufacturer for the project.
The new cold rolling mill is part of a downstream expansion plan for AM/NS India, which is a joint venture of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel.
ABB’s scope of supply includes advanced electrification and automation systems, including the ABB Ability™ System 800xA distributed control system, to enhance energy efficiency and optimize zinc consumption and corrosion resistance.
The new cold rolling mill is set to be commissioned in 2024.
