Alton Steel CEO Jim Hrusovsky Announces Retirement, Successor Named
02/06/2024 - Alton Steel Inc.’s (ASI) board of directors has named steel industry veteran Chris Ervin as chief executive officer, succeeding Jim Hrusovsky, who is retiring this fall.
Ervin, who spent 19 years with Gerdau Long Steel North America and served as vice president of its West Coast rebar operation, will step into his new role immediately and will work with Hrusovsky until his September retirement.
“Chris was the perfect choice as the new CEO to help transition ASI into the future, which is very bright,” said Hrusovsky. “We have several big projects underway right now, and we need someone with Chris’ background and leadership skills to help see them through successfully.”
Ervin, who has roots in Alton, Ill., USA, has more than 25 years of experience in steelmaking and steel processing. In addition to Gerdau, he worked as the general manager for Dubose Steel in North Carolina and as the regional general manager for Canam Steel Corp. in Jacksonville, Fla., USA.
“ASI has a strong track record of success, and together we can build on this legacy and create even more success in the years to come,” Ervin said.
