Alliance Steel Plans New Slitting Line

In a statement, Red Bud said the line, to be installed at Alliance’s Gary facility, will be capable of processing sheet in thickness of up to 0.5 inches and in widths of up to 76 inches.

It also will be able to handle coil weights of up to 45 tons.

The line will include a coil stage-and-load system, a dual stub uncoiler, a peeler breaker, an entry crop shear, three packed arbor slitting heads, scrap choppers, a tensioner system, a roller leveler, an exit crop shear, a recoiler, an exit coil lift and a four-arm powered turnstile.

“Alliance Steel’s new line will incorporate Red Bud Industries’ precision large-arbor technology that is specifically designed for slitting heavy-gauge, high-strength material. The system will also feature ‘hands-free’ push button strip threading from the uncoiler to the recoiler. This will allow the operator to thread the coil without ever coming in contact with the strip,” the company said.
