Allegheny Technologies Signs Supply Agreement for Specialty Aerospace Materials
07/26/2017 - Aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has signed a long-term purchase agreement with Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI) for isothermal forgings and nickel-based powder alloys, materials for its next-generation jet engines.
In a statement, Allegheny Technologies said the supply agreement is an extension of the master agreement it signed with Pratt & Whitney parent United Technologies Corp. last year. The new supply agreement is expected to generate more than US$1 billion in revenue for Allegheny Technologies over the next 13 years.
“We believe this (agreement) recognizes our leading technologies, broad manufacturing capabilities and operating reliability within the jet engine supply chain made possible by ATI’s integrated capabilities from nickel-based alloy powders through isothermal forgings to machined parts,” said Allegheny Technologies chairman and chief executive Rich Harshman.
“The new agreement further demonstrates our ability to meet the aerospace and defense market’s demand for innovative products that create value for our customers and shareholders and enable ATI’s incremental growth on next-generation jet engine platforms,” he added.
