Chairman to Retire
Jan. 15, 2004 — Allegheny Technologies Inc. announced that Robert P. Bozzone, 70, has informed the Board of Directors that he plans to retire as Chairman following the Annual Meeting of Stockholders in May.
Upon Mr. Bozzone's retirement, the Board of Directors plans to name L. Patrick Hassey, 57, Chairman, in addition to his responsibilities as Allegheny Technologies' President and CEO. Mr. Bozzone will remain a Director of ATI.
Bob Bozzone said, "Pat Hassey is an experienced, dedicated and inspirational leader. He is committed to making ATI a success for our stockholders, customers and employees. He is taking decisive actions to improve the company's profitability and is focusing on positioning ATI for profitable growth. The Board has great confidence in Pat."
"Bob Bozzone has provided important leadership as Chairman of the company," said Pat Hassey. "I am pleased that Bob will continue to serve on ATI's Board of Directors after he retires as Chairman."
