Allegheny Technologies Bags Big Order for Pipeline Repair
12/08/2017 - Stainless and specialty alloy producer Allegheny Technologies Inc. has landed a US$30 million order related to a pipeline repair project, the company has announced.
In a statement, Allegheny Technologies said the order is for flat-rolled coils of a nickel-based alloy. The company didn’t identify the customer or the pipeline, but said the project necessitated immediate work.
"The customer selected our innovative solution that is enabled by the capabilities of our (Pennsylvania-based) Hot-Rolling and Processing Facility, which features the industry’s shortest production cycle time for nickel-based alloy flat-rolled products," said Bob Wetherbee, executive vice president of ATI’s flat-rolled products division.
"In addition, we offered a highly competitive solution for our customer through the use of our differentiated continuous coil, which replaces discrete plate in this application. This differentiated product is made possible by the unparalleled reduction power and gauge control of the (facility)," he said.
The company said shipments are to begin in the first quarter of 2018.
