Algoma Blast Furnace Stove Rebuild Underway
08/25/2017 - Canadian steelmaker Algoma has begun rebuilding one of the four stoves serving the blast furnace at its Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., plant.
According the online Sootoday.com, the stoves haven’t been overhauled since they were first put into service more than 30 years ago. The blast furnace will continue to run during the maintenance project, but Algoma expects steel production to drop while the work is carried out.
