AK Steel Wins Safety Honors from Ohio Workers' Compensation Bureau
04/04/2016 - The state of Ohio has recognized AK Steel Corp.’s Zanesville Works for its safety performance during the previous 13 years, the company has announced.
The plant received a Special Award for Safety from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation safety and hygiene division for running without any lost-time accidents between April 21, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2015, a period of nearly 5.1 million hours.
The plant also received the division’s 100% Award for Safety for running without any lost-time injuries or illnesses in 2015.
"We are proud to be recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene, for this important honor," said AK Steel chief executive Roger K. Newport.
"I'm pleased to congratulate our Zanesville Works employees for this outstanding safety achievement, which demonstrates our commitment to safety at AK Steel."
