AK Steel to Increase Stainless Steel Prices

Jan. 26, 2006 — AK Steel announced it will increase transaction prices by approximately 3% for all cold-rolled stainless sheet and strip products. The increase, which takes effect with shipments on February 19, 2006, will be accomplished through a two-point reduction in the functional discount rate.

AK Steel says it is enacting the price increase in response to significant increases in manufacturing, energy and transportation costs, and to support capital investments.

Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
