AK Steel to Increase Prices for all Carbon and Stainless Steel Products
06/19/2009 - AK Steel announces plans to increase spot market prices for all carbon and stainless flat rolled steel products.
AK Steel announced that it will increase spot market prices for all carbon and stainless flat rolled steel products.
The company will increase spot market prices for carbon steel products effective with all new orders for July and August shipments. Base prices will be increased by $60 per ton for hot rolled products; by $70 per ton for cold rolled products; and by $80 per ton for all galvanized, galvannealed and aluminized coated products. The company said that zinc coating extras have also been increased as detailed on the AK Steel website under Markets & Products.
Effective with shipments June 28, 2009, the company will also increase spot market base prices for all 200, 300 and 400 series cold rolled and hot rolled stainless steel products through a reduction in the functional discount of two percentage points. The company will also increase base prices for all automotive exhaust grades by $.02/lb.
The company noted that all surcharges remain in effect and can be found on the AK Steel website.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6200 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
