AK Steel Signs With Harsco for Scrap Services
02/16/2018 - Mill services contractor Harsco Corp. said it has signed a seven-year agreement to begin providing scrap management services to AK Steel Corp.’s Mansfield, Ohio, Works.
In a statement, Chris Whistler, the chief executive of Harsco’s metals and minerals division, said the agreement expands his company's relationship with AK Steel and is an important step forward in its overall growth plans.
“This new contract further increases our presence in the United States, which will prove invaluable as U.S. economic growth positively impacts stainless steel consumption,” he said.
Harsco said it will provide services under its ScrapMaster program, which includes inbound scrap handling and inspection, basket preparation and hauling, and delivery route maintenance.
Harsco said it already provides similar services at AK Steel’s Butler Works in Pennsylvania.
