AK Steel Recognizes Valuable Suppliers, Processors

AK Steel is honoring four suppliers and three processors for providing outstanding service, value, and strategic support to the company's business plan in 2009.
 
AK Steel says that these companies found innovative ways to add value to its supply chain despite the severe economic downturn, and helped it consistently earn top-quality ratings from customers throughout the year.
 
"As an important component of our business, we continuously work with our suppliers and processors to reduce costs, improve competitiveness, and maximize the value of the products and services provided to AK Steel," said James L. Wainscott, AK Steel Chairman, President, and CEO. "We congratulate our 2009 award recipients, and thank them for going above and beyond to provide exceptional value to AK Steel."

  • Mazzella Lifting Technologies - Cleveland, Ohio
AK Steel's 2009 Processors of the Year include:
 
  • Kasle Metal Processing - Jeffersonville, Ind.
  • Precision Strip, Inc. - Minster, Ohio
  • Worthington Steel - Monroe, Ohio

AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction, and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6000 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton, and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
 
AK Tube LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 250 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio, and Columbus, Ind. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubular steel products for truck, automotive, and other markets.
