AK Steel Receives Outstanding Child & Family Advocate Award
03/31/2009 - AK Steel has received an outstanding child and family advocate award from the Celebrating Families Committee, a group of nonprofit organizations in Butler County, Ohio.
AK Steel has received an outstanding child and family advocate award in recognition of its long-standing tradition of community involvement as well as current programs that help make a difference in the lives of children and families.
The award was presented by Celebrating Families Committee, a group of nonprofit organizations in Butler County, Ohio.
"The committee is very impressed with the depth and diversity of AK Steel's community involvement, and we are extremely proud to recognize the company as a 2009 outstanding child and family advocate," said Pam Mortensen, Co-Chair of the Celebrating Families Committee. "AK Steel is a fine example of how a corporation can make a positive difference in the lives of others."
Now in its 15th year, the outstanding child and family advocate awards are presented annually to individuals and organizations that demonstrate exemplary support of children and families in Butler County, Ohio.

In addition to the Celebrating Families Committee, AK Steel's corporate citizenship efforts have been recognized throughout the years by organizations such as the Greater Cincinnati Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati and the Greater Cincinnati United Way, Middletown Area.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6300 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton, and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
AK Tube LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 260 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio, and Columbus, Ind. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets.
