AK Steel Increases Price for Carbon Steel Products
01/13/2010 - AK Steel announces an additional $60 per ton increase to spot market prices for carbon steel products immediately for all new orders.
AK Steel announced that it will increase spot market base prices by $60 per ton, effective immediately with all new orders for its carbon steel products.
The company has also increased zinc coating extras for its galvanized steel products. The extras can be found on AK Steel's website at www.aksteel.com under Markets & Products.
The company said it was making the price increase in response to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as the need to recover higher costs.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6000 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
AK Tube LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 250 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio, and Columbus, Ind. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets.
