AK Steel has announced that it will add a $460 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in September 2011.
The company noted that its surcharges are based on reported prices for the raw materials and energy used to manufacture its products. AK Steel previously announced stainless steel customers that it will change the timing and method of calculation for its stainless steel surcharges, effective with shipments on October 2, 2011. Details about the changes are also available on the company's website.
