AK Steel Announces Retirement of Human Resources Executive
02/22/2013 - AK Steel announced that Lawrence F. Zizzo, vice president, human resources, has elected to retire effective 31 March 2013.
AK Steel announced that Lawrence F. Zizzo, age 64, vice president, human resources, has elected to retire effective 31 March 2013.
Mr. Zizzo has served in the steel industry for 35 years, joining AK Steel in January 2004 as vice president, human resources. Prior to his AK Steel career, he held a number of division-level and executive-level positions with the former National Steel Corporation, including serving as that company's vice president, human resources. Mr. Zizzo began his steel industry career with National Steel in 1978.
"Larry has done an excellent job in helping to shape AK Steel into the world-class company it is today," said James L. Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel. "We thank him for his outstanding service, and we wish him great health and good fortune as he enters the next phase of his life."
Mr. Zizzo is a member of several professional associations, and he currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Abilities First in Middletown, Ohio. He previously served as vice president of the Middletown Area Senior Citizens Center, and as a member of the Butler-Warren (Ohio) Workforce Investment Board. He has also been active in the past in the American Iron and Steel Institute and the United Way.
Mr. Zizzo is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology, and a master's degree in criminal justice.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6,100 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
