AK Steel Announces November Surcharges

AK Steel will add a $193 per ton surcharge to invoices for flat-rolled carbon steel products shipped in November 2005. The company will also add a $220 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in the same period.

AK Steel also announced that it will add an energy component to its stainless steel surcharge, prompted by the extraordinary increases in the cost of natural gas. The energy surcharge, which takes effect for shipments on and after November 1, 2005, will be applied to all grades of stainless steel sheet, strip and plate products.

AK Steel bases its surcharges on reported prices for the raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the September 2005 purchase cost used to determine the November 2005 surcharges. November surcharges can be found on the company's website.

Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
