AK Steel has announced that it will add a $165 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in March 2009.
The company noted that its surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products. January 2009 purchase costs were used to determine the March 2009 surcharges.

AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.
