AK Steel has announced it will add a $285 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in December 2010.
The company noted that its surcharges are based on reported prices for the raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products. October 2010 purchase costs were used to determine the December 2010 surcharges.

AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.
