AK Steel announced that it will add a $185 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in December 2009.
The company noted that its surcharges are based on reported prices for the raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products. October 2009 purchase costs were used to determine the December 2009 surcharges.
