AK Steel Announces Carbon Steel Price Increase
03/06/2008 - AK Steel will increase spot market prices for carbon steel products by $70 per ton for all new orders accepted for shipment May 1, 2008 and later.
AK Steel announced that it will increase spot market prices by $70 per ton for its carbon steel products. The increase will take effect for all new orders accepted for shipment May 1, 2008 and later.
The company said that its May order book is now open for all carbon steel products.
The company also noted that it was making the price increase is in response to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as the need to recover higher costs for steelmaking inputs.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6,500 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
AK Tube LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 300 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio, and Columbus, Ind. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets
