Ajax TOCCO Supplies Induction Heater for FBE Coating System at L.B. Foster
03/06/2015 - Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic recently shipped a 4,500-kW, 12-pulse, Pacer II induction heating system to the L.B.Foster Coated Products pipe coating facility in Birmingham, Ala.
The installation of this advanced equipment marks a key development in L.B. Foster’s capacity expansion plans.
The high-speed coating plant is capable of applying Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) to 12.75 inch – 24 inch pipe in lengths up to 80 feet. The new Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic system provides progressive, in-line heating of the pipe prior to application of the FBE coating and features the ability to quickly change the line’s inductors for differing pipe sizes to minimize production downtime. The L.B. Foster pipe coating facility is located on the site of American Steel Pipe.
