AIST Gears Up for Record-Breaking AISTech

Building off of the success of last year's event in Nashville, Tenn., USA, AISTech 2022 is promising to be a much-needed “return to normal,” with thousands of attendees headed to the Steel City for the three-day event.

While a lighter international crowd is expected — AISTech typically draws registrants from approximately 40 countries — the association is anticipating about 8,000 attendees at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

“Events like AISTech enable the steel industry to become early adopters of the emerging technologies needed to drive a green, digital economy relative to all manufacturing,” said Ronald Ashburn, AIST’s executive director. “It’s also important for the steel industry to showcase our use of advanced technologies because it will make us an attractive career option for the next generation.”

The technical program will consist of 380 technical presentations and the exposition will play host to nearly 550 companies. This year’s exhibitors comprise a total of 100,400 square feet — the largest exposition by area in AIST history.

“If you are interested in steel, there is no better way to engage, network and learn,” Ashburn added.
