AIST Announces the Matching Funds Challenge II

The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Foundation board of trustees is pleased to announce the AIST board of directors has approved a Matching Funds Challenge II. AIST will match, dollar for dollar, donations made to the AIST Foundation through 30 June 2013, up to an aggregate total of US$500,000.
Qualifying donations include any corporate or individual cash donation of US$250 or more, including donations made to all AIST Foundation fundraising events, such as the AIST Foundation Golf Classic.
To begin the challenge, Steel Dynamics Inc. and Nucor Corp. have renewed their pledges of US$100,000 payable over four years. CMC Americas has pledged US$50,000 payable over four years. Through this industry support, the AIST Foundation awards in excess of US$500,000 in scholarships and grants annually.

Teets Jr., executive vice president and president and chief operating officer — steel operations, Steel Dynamics Inc., states, “By partnering with the AIST Foundation through scholarships and education programs, it is our goal to provide continued support to talented and dedicated students pursuing engineering and science careers within the iron- and steel-related industries.”

DiMicco, chairman and chief executive officer, Nucor Corp., expresses, “Nucor is committed in our support of engineering and science education as we recognize its importance to the long-term success of the U.S. manufacturing base, particularly in the steel industry. Our partnership with AIST solidifies this commitment to young and talented individuals.”
