AIST Announces Steelmaker of the Year
04/11/2016 - The Association for Iron & Steel Technology has named Nucor Corp. chairman and chief executive officer John J. Ferriola as its 2016 Steelmaker of the Year, the association has announced.
According to the U.S.-based association, Ferriola is being recognized for his leadership and strategic vision in growing Nucor Steel and maintaining its profitability in a down market.
“His contributions go beyond Nucor as a voice for the entire industry, articulating to policymakers the problem of unfair trade that is plaguing the U.S. market and advocating for the strengthening of U.S. trade laws and their enforcement,” the organization said in a statement.
AIST presents the award yearly to recognize steel industry leaders who have had an impact on the business. The award will be presented during the association’s annual conference and exposition, AISTech 2016, which is being held 16-19 May in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Ferriola is a Nucor veteran, having been with the company for more than 20 years. He has served as chief executive since January 2013.
