AIST Adds to Technology Committee Lineup
12/04/2015 - The Association for Iron & Steel Technology has established a new technology committee intended to share know-how related to direct reduced iron (DRI) and hot briquetted iron (HBI).
The DRI Technology Committee is the association’s 30th technology committee. The committee received board approval earlier this month.
The committee was created to bring together industry professionals who will exchange knowledge related to DRI production, transportation, storage and use. The committee will solicit papers, organize conferences and seminars, and document production processes and techniques.
“Initially a subcommittee of the Ironmaking Technology Committee, the DRI Technology Committee became its own entity due to the increase in use of DRI in today's steel mills,” the association said in a statement.
AIST Staff Engineer Mark Rosi has been assigned to work with the committee.
