AISI: U.S. Steel Imports See Further Declines
01/07/2021 - Based on preliminary data, steel imports into the United States appear to have fallen for the second straight year, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Commerce Department data, the institute said total imports stood at nearly 22.6 million tons in 2020, down 19.1% from 2019. 2019 imports were down 17.3% from 2018.
The institute said 2020 finished steel imports declined 23.4%. That would put the estimated finished steel import market share at 18% in 2020, the institute said.
