AISI Moves to Capitol Hill

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has moved its headquarters to 25 Massachusetts Ave. NW, next to Union Station. AISI completed the move to its new location over the Presidents Day weekend.

According to AISI, the new location gives it closer access to Capitol Hill than its previous downtown location.

“The new location makes sense in terms of our advocacy work,” said AISI President and CEO Tom Gibson. “But we’ve also gained more conference space, which will permit AISI to host an expanded number of meetings for executives of our member companies, including Board-level Committee meetings.”

Gibson said AISI was also able to take advantage of a tax-abatement program offered by Washington, D.C., for associations and other nonprofits that will save the Institute at least $1 million.

AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice. AISI also plays a lead role in the development and application of new steels and steelmaking technology. The Institute comprises 25 member companies, including integrated and electric furnace steelmakers, and 120 associate members who are suppliers to or customers of the steel industry.
