AISI: Mill Shipments Saw Slight Growth in 2019
08/13/2020 - U.S. crude steel production and mill shipments both rose slightly in 2019, according to newly published data from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
According to the institute’s annual statistical report, which was released Wednesday, crude steel production increased 1.3% over 2018, rising to 96.7 million net tons. Shipments notched up 0.9% from 2018 to 96.1 million net tons.
The report also noted that the construction and automotive industries continued as the leading end-use markets for shipments of U.S. steel products.
