AISI: March Steel Shipments Up 5% From February
05/14/2015 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of March 2015, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,270,793 net tons, a 5.0 percent increase from the 6,925,596 net tons shipped in the previous month, February 2015, and a 12.8 percent decrease from the 8,337,578 net tons shipped in March 2014.
Shipments year-to-date in 2015 are 21,959,131 net tons, a 7.9 percent decrease vs. 2014 shipments of 23,851,251 net tons for three months.
A comparison of March shipments to the previous month of February shows the following changes: cold rolled sheets, up 10 percent, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 8 percent and hot rolled, up 5 percent.
