AISI Applauds Senate Agreement on Infrastructure Bill
07/29/2021 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) is urging legislators to pass an infrastructure plan after a bipartisan group of senators on Wednesday reached an agreement on its broader details.
“AISI supports the framework that would make historic and much-needed investments in our nation’s infrastructure. This is a key development in the process to fix America’s deteriorating roads and bridges — and to use American steel to do so,” said AISI president and chief executive Kevin Dempsey.
“We also applaud the bill’s provisions to ensure that the steel products for water infrastructure projects be made in the U.S. This package ensures that American steel — which is the cleanest in the world — will be used to build back America.”
Details of the bill aren’t yet known, but a White House fact sheet said the agreement includes US$110 billion for roads and bridges, US$17 billion for ports and waterways.
