AIC Wraps Rolling Mill Project, Announces Contract Award

In a statement, AIC said the Cambridge project entailed installation of new electrical and automation systems, which improved  safety and performance. With the upgrade, AIC said, the mill is now able to roll larger billets, bringing it more in line with other mills in the same group.

Commissioning was completed in March.

Elsewhere, Gerdau’s Laisa plant in Uruguay has contracted AIC to revamp DC drives and an automation system.

AIC said that project will include control system modifications and installation of ABB DCS880 DC drives and PLC software, among other things.

“This flexible solution will be designed to keep connected to operations, improve productivity and ultimately deliver a cost-effective solution,” AIC said.
