In a statement, AIC said that it has been contracted to make improvements to the mill’s automation system and install new stand drives, a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, control pulpits and a human-machine interface. AIC will also be involved in the software development, site installation and commissioning, in addition to providing start-up support and remote assistance.

The goal of the project is to reduce maintenance costs, improve and optimize troubleshooting, and increase the efficiency and flexibility of the control system.

Commissioning is set to take place this summer, AIC said.
