Acquisition Extends Zekelman Industries' Reach in Hollow Structural Sections Market

In a statement, Zekelman Industries said the deal gives it entry into the southeastern U.S. structural tubing market. American Tube will retain its brand, but will become part of the of Zekelman’s Atlas Tube division. 

"American Tube is a perfect complement to our Atlas Tube division and will enable Zekelman Industries to provide improved customer service and an enhanced structural tube product offering to customers in the southeast," said Tom Muth, president of Zekelman Industries' structural tube divisions.

According to the local news website al.com, American Tube makes round, square and rectangular hollow structural sections. The 23-year-old company has about 80 fulltime employees and generates an estimated $26.2 million in annual revenue, according to the website. 

“The team at American Tube is excellent at what they do, and we are excited to begin this next chapter with them," said Barry Zekelman, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Zekelman Industries.
