Acquisition Expands Texas Service Center's Processing Capabilities
12/15/2016 - North Shore Steel, a steel service center in Houston, Texas, has acquired the operating assets of Houston Blow Pipe, a 100-year-old plate processor, the company has announced.
Through the acquisitin, North Shore is gaining four press brakes, one of which has a 3,000-ton capacity and a 27.5-foot bed. And that, North Shore executives said, will give the service center the largest press bake capacity in the Gulf Coast. North Shore also is gaining several plate rolling machines and welding equipment
“This is a great opportunity to offer increased press brake capacity to our customers, growth opportunities for our employees, and diversify into new end markets,” said North Shore vice president and third-generation owner David Bluestone in a statement.
“We are very excited to grow our business under the third-generation of family and non-family leaders, and this strategic asset acquisition is a great example,” he said.
North Shore president and chief executive Buzzy Bluestone said the newly acquired press brakes are ideal comlements to North Shore Steel’s steel processing capabilities, which include rolling, plasma and oxy fuel burning, press forming, CNC profiling, machining, code welding, and nondestructive examination.
