ABB Invests to Expand U.S. Manufacturing
03/03/2025 - ABB announced that it will invest US$120 million between two U.S. manufacturing sites to expand the production capacity of its low-voltage electrification products.
According to a press release, US$80 million will go to building ABB’s new 320,000 sq. ft. facility in Selmer, Tenn., while the other US$40 million will go to expanding its existing site in Senatobia, Miss. They estimate this will create 50 new jobs in Selmer and 200 new jobs in Senatobia.
“The investment will enable ABB to meet increasing demand from customers in a wide range of key growth industries, including data centers, buildings and utilities,” the company said.
ABB said the new facility in Selmer will replace their existing operations there. They estimate it will increase their production capacity by more than 50%. The new factory will produce electrical distribution equipment for large-scale industrial and technology-driven facilities.
The company said they also intend to double the size of its Senatobia facility to meet increasing demand for low-voltage circuit breakers in North America for data expansion, advanced manufacturing facilities and renewable energy microgrids. The expanded production will also support the upgrading of aging power infrastructure and expanding operations.
“Our new facilities in Selmer and Senatobia will keep our U.S. customers at the cutting edge of the energy transition, and help them meet their performance, productivity and energy efficiency goals,” said Morten Wierod, chief executive officer of ABB.
ABB estimates the facilities will be complete towards the end of 2026.
