A New Congress Begins, and New Leadership Takes the Helm of Steel Caucus
01/25/2019 - U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb, a Pennsylvania Democrat serving the Pittsburgh region, has been named chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus.
"America produces the world's best steel, and southwestern Pennsylvania produces some of the world's best steelworkers," Lamb said in a statement. "I'm excited for the opportunity to lead this bipartisan group and work with my colleagues from both parties to help strengthen the steel industry to protect American jobs and American workers."
Lamb succeeds Reps. Mike Bost, R-Ill., and Rick Crawford, R-Ark., who had served as co-chairmen. They’ll continue on as vice chairmen.
"We look forward to working with (Congressman Lamb) and caucus Vice Chairmen Reps. Mike Bost and Rick Crawford to continue to advance public policies that support American steel and enhance manufacturing competitiveness,” said American Iron and Steel Institute president and chief executive Thomas J. Gibson in a statement.
“The strong bipartisan leadership of the caucus is critical to ensuring Congress supports policies that create jobs in steel and promote steel as the backbone of manufacturing,” he said.
