(UPDATE) Nucor to Open New Joist, Decking Facility in Canada
05/15/2016 - Nucor Corp.'s joist and decking unit is setting up a fabrication shop in Canada and plans to begin producing products later this year, the company has announced.
Nucor said the facility, which will operate as Vulcraft Canada Inc., will be near Hamilton, Ontario, and serve the country's central and eastern markets. It will make joists, joist girders, and decking.
"We are excited to expand our production into Canada as part of our long-term commitment to serving our customers in this market," said Ray Napolitan, executive vice president of fabricated construction products. "We already have valuable partnerships with many Canadian customers, and we look forward to building on those relationships and growing this business well into the future."
A Nucor spokeswoman said the company is not disclosing specifics on the facility's capacity. But she said the facility will be expanded, and work is to begin immediately.
