UGITECH USA Completes Construction of Bar Mill
06/01/2007 - Specialty steels provider UGITECH USA says it is one step closer to opening its new facility in Batavia, Ill.
Specialty steels provider UGITECH USA, which is part of the Schmolz + Bickenbach Group, announced that it is on schedule, and one step closer to opening its new facility in Batavia, Ill.
The new facility marks a transfer in technology from the primary steelmaking operations of UGITECH in Europe, to the new facility in the U.S., bringing with it the latest available technology in cold drawn bar.
"The first phase of our plan has cleared the implementation process on time," said President and CEO Daniel O'Donnell. "Our initial production lines for the new stainless bar mill are installed," he noted, adding, "It is very satisfying to see our commitment to using a Greenfield approach work out so successfully."
UGITECH has achieved industry recognition for its two flagship products—the SMQ(R) (Screw Machine Quality) bar proprietary finishing technology, and UGIMA XL(TM) family of stainless machining grades.
"We are nearing our opening date in this newly expanded role of a producer," noted UGITECH Executive Vice President Michael Walsh. "We expect to be fully functional in this location during third quarter."
